Liebster Award

Hey everyone!

So I was scrolling through my blogfeed the other day and guess what I stumbled upon? I was nominated TWICE for the Liebster Award!! At first, I was thinking, what exactly is this? I Googled for awhile and I found out that this is an award for new and upcoming bloggers. Liebster means beloved or dearest in German. I feel very honored to have been nominated twice in one week! This actually means a lot to me because now I know that people actually read my blog and that people like what I have to say. So basically, I do the following things:

So I will start off with the 11 facts

1) I love to eat super dark chocolate, yup the kind that most people will claim to be bitter

2) My favorite TV shows to watch are Once Upon a Time, Gossip Girl, The Carrie Diaries, What Not To Wear, Extreme Cheapskates (haha reality tv can be quite entertaining)

3) I have this weird obsession with eyebrows and eyelashes, like if I see someone with really nice eyebrows or eyelashes I just stare at them. I might touch them too, if I knew the person. Yeah...

4) The only products I ever use on my hair are shampoo, conditioner and olive oil. That's it. Not joking. I don't use anything else, no leave in conditioner or serums or gels or etc.

5) Sometimes when I talk I tend to talk way too fast and ramble on. People just stare at me all amazed at the trail of thoughts just tumbling from my mouth.

6) I love samples so much I have a huge collection of hotel lotions, soaps, shampoos and conditioners. I never use them I just take them and keep them to add to my collection. I have a set from every hotel I have ever been to.

7) I am actually allergic to foods like hot dogs, onion rings, bacon, Top Ramen and other foods that have similar preservatives and MSG.

8) I have been taking ballet lessons for most of my life now and when I was younger I wished to be a famous ballerina or a ballet teacher

9) When I feel like enjoying something yummy, I like to mix cranberry juice with Diet Mountain Dew. I basically invented that a year and half ago and realized it tasted very similar to a 7-11 slurpee.

10) Whenever I buy books or magazines, I hate wrinkling them. I always like to keep them in perfect mint-condition. I would borrow those same books from the library to read, instead of using my own copy. But I do read my own magazines because those are easy to keep wrinkle-free.

11) Apparently, to some of my friends I look like a rabbit when I'm eating. And it doesn't help that sometimes the food I'm eating is rabbit food like carrots, I love carrots!

Hobbits or dragons?

Hands down, dragons!

Do you have a motto/phrase that you live by?

Do what makes you "you" and don't think twice about everything. Stop caring so much about what others think because the ones who matter won't judge you and hate you for being who you are, otherwise they are not really the ones who should matter.

Yeah.. it's kinda long but I feel that it's so true!

You've been lucky enough to be granted a date with a famous celebrity - who'd you pick?

Holy flapjacks! Okay, don't even get me started on how IN LOVE I am with Colin O'Donoghue from Once Upon a Time. He is Captain Hook and he is soooooo good looking! I will do anything to meet him and to have a date with him? AHHH!!!

Band/artist you've been listening to a lot recently?

So this is kind of hard. I listen to a lot of YouTube cover artists mostly. So I guess who I would say is Madilyn Bailey who covers amazingly on YouTube or Amy Winehouse!

Since the start of the year, have you found anything that you wish to do more/do less?

I wish to read more classic literature. I love to read love stories and I am a hopeless romantic. Some of the best romance stories are from old literature, and I wish I had the time to read more of that.

Who would you pick to play you in a film of your life?

Oh gosh, I actually don't know who I would pick. Because if there was a film of my life, I would want to be the star of it and be famous. So if it's possible, I guess, myself?

A boat is taking 5 items away to heaven (let's say it's real) ready for you when you eventually go there - what would you put in the boat?

I would put my pink bear that I got when I was born, my iPod and charger, my journal, my favorite leather jacket, my elephant pillow pet

One of your most embarrassing moments from your childhood?

There was this hill outside of the elementary school I went to, it had a playground there that we could go to during recess. And there has been multiple times where I fell and slid down the hill, landing with a splash in the muddy bottom. I would have to call my parents to bring me clothes. This happened at least a couple times several years, yeah... I was pretty clumsy.

Do you have a fashion icon and who is it?

Selena Gomez, I like how she looks very put together and I like her style

I give you a train ticket now to anywhere you like in the UK - where would you go?

I would like to go to Brighton because that's apparently where Marcus Butler lives. And he is one of my favorite Youtubers. I would totally go just to see if I could meet him!

Now for the questions from Ana:

Why did you make your blog?

I made my blog because I wanted to put out my opinions and thoughts. I take so much inspiration from others and I want to be able to do the same. I want a chance to show how I love fashion and beauty, as well as give out some knowledge and advice I have gained throughout the years. I want my opinions and thoughts to be heard.

Who do you admire (either from blogs or in life in general)?

I admire Michelle Phan, who is a beauty guru on YouTube. She started out with nothing and now she has made it so far to have her own makeup line. Many people think that she has changed a lot since her beginning days. But, to me, no matter what, you will change a bit if you have accomplished as much as she has. I admire her dedication and how she has become so successful, and I wish to be able to do the same.

Where have you always wanted to visit, fictional or real?

Ana, my answer is the same as yours! I really want to visit France too. I have since I was very little. I find the French culture very captivating and that is the reason why I took French throughout middle and high school, when all my friends took Spanish.

Why do you think you were nominated for Liebster?

I actually do not know. I hope it is because my blog is unique and special, and that people like to read what I have to say. I really hope that that is the case, and if it is, thank you it means so much.

What is your best success?

My best success is being able to get where I am today. I really work hard to not procrastinate too much and do my best in everything I do. I am a senior in high school, and because I worked hard, I will graduate knowing that I have done my best and that is something I am very proud of. If not, I wouldn't even be here today, having time to write my blog. I feel successful and proud that I am finally starting to do something that I have wanted to do for a long while, blogging.

Do you regret any choices you have made?

In my freshman year of high school, I was a shy introvert. I didn't really put myself out there to express my true self. I was always scared of what others might think. So, I was very quiet and I was often alone, with no friends. I regret wasting that whole entire year of school afraid of being who I am.

What is your favorite blog?

My favorite blog is Tanya Burr's.

What is your favorite part of blogging?

Definitely being able to share my thoughts and opinions, and knowing that someone out there is listening!

How do you enjoy a lazy day in?

I love to cozy up on the couch, with a pile of magazines by my side and my laptop open, while I watch some YouTube videos or read people's blogs.

Who is someone you can't live without?

My sister. She is my best friend in the entire world. I honestly cannot live a day without her. We are always talking, whether it be texting or in person. She is like my other half!

What is your favorite color?

I can't pick, my top 3 favorite colors are pink, purple and gold.

Curls and Lashes

My current mascaras and eyelash curler

Hey everyone!

So I bet you read "curls" and thought I meant hair curling methods, correct? Well, I actually was referring to the hair that grows from that flap of skin above your eyeballs. That's right. I'm talking about curling your lashes!

This is a frequently visited topic in the beauty world. We're always told how curling your lashes makes the biggest difference in the world. Your face instantly looks more awake. You're lashes are given that va-va-voom effect. When given the option to choose only one makeup tool, many would say an eyelash curler. And, yes. I agree. Having curled lashes does make a difference to your face. I love having curled lashes; they really complete a makeup look. And even by itself, just having curled your lashes, you instantly look more put together.

However, to be honest, this is also the biggest thing I have a problem with. I hate the process of curling my lashes. I would hold that dang metal clamp against my eyes for all of eternity. After I release the clamp, my lashes are nice and curled. But once that mascara wand touches my eyelashes in an attempt to coat them in black goop to thicken and elongate, those stubborn lashes would droop back down. They love to just stick straight out and stay that way. It's just so frustrating! Without mascara, they will be happy to cope with me and curl nicely. Yet as soon as the mascara begins to brush through, those lashes will uncurl.

Do any of you have that problem too?

I don't want to not put on mascara because I love the effect mascara gives. I like to lengthen and thicken my lashes. I feel like they make my eyes look bigger and give me a more doe-eyed appearance. They complete a makeup look. And I would think to myself, ooh look at that pretty fringe around my eyes. But for some unknown reason, curled lashes and mascara do not go hand-in-hand for me. I know that curling lashes after putting on mascara is bad because you can easily rip out your lashes, and you can clump up your lashes too. So I oftentimes simply go without curling my lashes and just mascara them. Using only mascara gives a slight lift to my lashes if I hold the wand against my lashes for ten to fifteen seconds several times. So, maybe I found a solution? I don't know. There should be a better way to do this than what I'm currently doing.

E.L.F. Mechanical Eyelash Curler

The eyelash curler I am currently using is the E.L.F. Mechanical Eyelash Curler. I used to have one from The Body Shop, but last May someone stole my makeup bag and sadly, that eyelash curler was taken from me. I was in need for an eyelash curler for the time being, while I was researching the best eyelash curler. One day, I was walking around Grocery Outlet and I came across the beauty aisle. I saw this eyelash curler and decided to get it. I have read some positive reviews of it before, though obviously there are way better high-end ones I could get too. I believe I bought this for a dollar. I wanted something to use while I was looking for a really good one. I have heard that the Shu Uemura lash curler was good, but I didn't want to waste the money getting it without knowing exactly how good it was.

This works quite well, as long as I am not putting mascara on after curling my lashes. I think it was worth that dollar. I do recommend this one, if any of you are ever in need for an eye lash curler. Though, I am still looking for another one.

Clinique mascara gift box set

In case you are wondering, the mascara I use came in this Clinique gift box set. I received this from "Santa" for Christmas this year. I am currently using the first one at the top, the high impact mascara. I really love this mascara. I am normally a drugstore makeup kind of girl. I like to save my money and buy affordable-and-cheap-but-still-good-quality-makeup. This way, I can buy more with less money. Smart, I know. Haha!

Anyways, I really do like this mascara. This is one of the few non-drugstore makeup items I own. I like how this mascara thickens my lashes. I have also tried the bottom-lash mascara, the one at the side that is vertical in the box. That one is quite nice too, and I like how easily I can coat my bottom lashes with mascara.
